Close Kitchen Cabinet Door

Standing upright pushing a drawer closed.“Close it” is one of those words that have unexpected results. I meant to teach Marley to push doors and drawers closed with this phrase. When a door is half way between open and closed, “close it” means “return the door to its normal position.” The exterior doors on our Closing a Closet Doorhome are normally kept closed, so Marley closes those doors. But the interior doors (ie: the bedroom door), Marley pushes back against the wall to their normally open position.

To close a normally open door, Marley needs to be cued with “push on it,” sometimes adding, “No. Other side.”

“Close it” also works for closing drawers.
